In mabl, workspaces group applications, environments, credentials, tests, plans, and more into a set for the purpose of providing appropriate visibility and access control.
This article explains how to add, rename, and delete workspaces in the mabl app. You can also do all three with the mabl API, which is worth considering if your team stands up a workspace per product, team, or client. See manage workspaces and users with the mabl API.
Adding workspaces
Creating additional workspaces can be helpful in the following circumstances:
- Keeping information separate for teams that work on different projects
- Creating a template workspace for new teams that join mabl
Only workspace owners with account admin permissions can add new workspaces. To add a new workspace, take the following steps:
- Click on the workspace dropdown in the top right corner and open your account dashboard, listed under Manage company.
- Open the Billing tab.
- On the account billing dashboard, click on the New workspace button to add a workspace.
- Specify a workspace name, designate an owner, and set a credit allocation. To stop cloud runs in the workspace once it reaches that allocation, select Enforce this credit limit.
Once submitted, the workspace is fully activated and associated with your account.
Limitations of multiple workspaces
Workspaces cannot share flows, and workspace-level reporting metrics are calculated separately for each workspace. However, you can view aggregated metrics across all workspaces in your account on the account-level coverage dashboard.
Copying tests between workspaces is limited and requires reaching out to either your customer success manager (CSM) or technical account manager (TAM). See the article on workspace copies for more details.
Renaming workspaces
Workspace owners can change the name of a workspace from Settings > Workspace in the mabl app. Click on the edit pencil next to the Name field, enter a new workspace name, and save your changes.
Deleting workspaces
Deleting a workspace is a permanent action that cannot be undone from the app, and it removes the tests, plans, and run history in that workspace along with it. mabl retains workspace data for 30 days after a workspace is deleted, so contact mabl support if a deleted workspace needs to be recovered. Trial workspaces are automatically deleted 90 days after the expiration of the trial. Only workspace owners can delete workspaces.
To delete a workspace, take the following steps:
- Go to the workspaces page: Settings > Workspace.
- In the Danger zone, click on the Delete workspace button.
- Type the name of the workspace.
- Click on Confirm delete.
On deletion, mabl loads your default workspace.
Deleting the last workspace in an account
Deleting a workspace never cancels your mabl subscription. A request to delete the last remaining workspace in an account is refused.
