Ever wish you could set an expiration date for your mabl API keys? Now you can!
Here are a few ways you can use expiration dates to optimize your workflow:
- Simplify API key rotation - previously, rotating mabl API keys required manually pausing and deleting the old API key. With expiration dates, you can let your old mabl API keys expire on a predetermined date without requiring manual cleanup.
- Give temporary access - for a temporary project, set keys to expire on an exact date to ensure access is automatically revoked
- Build in periodic reviews - mabl sends notifications to workspace owners when the expiration date is approaching. Use these notifications as a reminder to review API key permissions in your integrations.
How it works
API keys are managed by workspace owners at Settings > API in the mabl app.
When you create a new API key, the form now includes a Key expires checkbox. If checked, you can set an expiration time range between 1 and 365 days.
mabl sends notification emails to workspace owners as the expiration date approaches on the following schedule:
- 7 days before expiration
- 3 days before expiration
- 1 day before expiration
- On the expiration date
Note
You can only set an expiration date when creating a new API key. You cannot add an expiration date to an existing key.
