What is the sunset plan?
The sunset plan outlines the timeline for formally sunsetting the mabl Trainer Chrome extension. The sunset plan includes the timeline around maintenance for the Chrome extension, end of support, and the eventual sunset.

When is the Chrome extension going away?
The Chrome extension entered the maintenance phase at the beginning of May, and was fully retired on January 5, 2022.

What is the timeline for sunsetting the extension?

  • 5/11/21 - Maintenance Phase
  • 10/1/21 - End-of-support
  • 1/5/22 - End-of-life

What is the maintenance phase for the Chrome extension?
This means that the existing functionality of the Chrome extension is maintained, but new features may only be available in the desktop app. This phase ended on October 1st, 2021.

What does “end-of-support” mean?
During the end-of-support period, we do not expect to make any changes to the Chrome extension. This includes security updates, non-security updates, and bug fixes. New features introduced in the desktop app may not be backward compatible with the Chrome extension. This means that tests created in the desktop app with features that are unsupported in the Chrome extension can only be modified from the desktop app.

What does “end-of-life” mean?
End-of-life marks the date that the Chrome extension is formally retired from the marketplace.

Can I still use the Chrome extension?
No, the Chrome extension is no longer available for use.

How does the desktop app compare to the Chrome extension?
The desktop app provides all of the functionality of the Chrome extension for creating and editing tests, as well as the ability to manage these tests in one place.
