If your team manages test cases in TestRail, you can now connect TestRail directly to mabl! Use the new TestRail integration to sync plan run results without custom scripts and to build new mabl tests from your existing cases.
Record plan run results in TestRail
After a plan run completes, click on the TestRail status in the run header to sync the results into a new TestRail run. To automate reporting, turn on Automatically sync plan run results in the integration settings.
The TestRail status in mabl shows:
- What mabl recorded, with a link to the new TestRail run.
- Any case links mabl skipped, with the reason and how to resolve it.
To link a test to TestRail cases, add them in the test's Test cases section. Linked TestRail cases become links throughout mabl, including the Tests page, test and run headers, a plan's Tests tab, and Results > By test. If you already added TestRail case IDs to your tests for a custom script, mabl links them automatically and leaves IDs from other systems as you entered them.
Ad hoc runs of a single test and cancelled runs aren't synced.
Build new tests from TestRail cases
On the Build tests page, click + below the prompt and choose Case to hand a TestRail case to the mabl agent. The agent uses the case's steps and expected results as the specification for the test.
If you build a test from a single case, mabl links the saved test to that case, so future plan runs report results back to it.
Get started
Go to Settings > Integrations and add TestRail with your instance URL, the email and API key of a TestRail user, and the project you want to work with. If the project uses several test suites, you can also choose one suite. The TestRail integration article has the full walkthrough.
