Have you ever kicked off an agent session, forgotten about it, and come back later to find out it finished hours ago? You're not alone! Instead of letting those sessions idle in the background, you can now configure the mabl Desktop App to notify you when an agent needs input, completed its task, or failed.
How it works
Once you update the mabl Desktop App, notifications are on by default. Notifications cover the agent sessions you start yourself, including cloud sessions, local generation in the Trainer, and replies in a planning session. Sessions started by teammates or through API keys don't trigger notifications.
On macOS, the first notification arrives with a system prompt titled mabl Notifications. Select Options > Allow to keep receiving them. If you dismiss the prompt, mabl can't send notifications until you allow them in your Mac's notification settings.
To change what you hear about, update settings from the mabl app menu bar: Edit > Preferences > Notifications.
Under Agent activity, choose from the following notification types:
- Agent needs my input
- Agent finished and is ready for review
- Agent failed
Under Behavior, configure how notifications get your attention:
- Play a sound adds an audio cue to each notification
- Only notify when mabl is in the background skips the notification while a mabl window is focused so you only get the notification when you're working elsewhere
- Show a badge on the app icon for sessions waiting on my input puts a count on the mabl dock icon for every session that is paused on your answer. The badge clears as you respond. Only available on macOS, and only after you've allowed notifications from mabl.
If notifications never appear, check that mabl is allowed to send notifications in your operating system's notification settings.
