Building off the momentum from GenAI Test Creation for API tests, we're excited to share another significant update to the API testing experience: a redesigned API Test Editor! The new API Test Editor is built to streamline your test creation workflow, so you can create and troubleshoot test steps more effectively.
An updated layout
The most noticeable change is that the steps have moved from the left side to the right side. This matches the layout for test creation in the mabl Trainer. We condensed the Request details section so you can see more of the Results and Validation & variable assignment sections without having to scroll down.
Better visibility into each step
We also added an expanded view in the step list. Instead of navigating through various tabs and sections of the step builder to understand all the moving parts, you can simply expand the request in the step list to see all critical step information at a glance. This view is helpful for understanding the order of execution for pre- and post-request scripts, especially if the step inherits snippets from the flow or test level.
Easier navigation
From the expanded view in the step list, you can also click on any component to quickly navigate to the corresponding part of the step or configuration.
More UX improvements are planned for the API Test Editor, so stay tuned. And if you have any related suggestions or feedback, let us know in the mabl Product Portal!
